What is the Recovery Key, and why is it important?

The Recovery Key is a unique alphanumeric string generated when you first Set Up the Vault. It is the only credential that can restore access if you forget your Vault Password.
Because the Vault uses Zero-Knowledge Encrypted Storage, PikPak does not hold a copy of your password or keys. If you lose both your Vault Password and your Recovery Key, your Vault files will become permanently inaccessible — PikPak cannot recover them by any technical means.
If your Recovery Key is accidentally exposed to others, all data in your Vault is no longer secure, and there is no way for PikPak to make that data safe again. In this case, your only option is to Reset the Vault.
We strongly recommend storing your Recovery Key offline on a physical medium in a secure location. Do not photograph it, save it in cloud notes, or share it with anyone through any digital channel.
