Are my files secure and cryptographically protected when the Vault is locked?

Yes. Once the Vault is locked, all file content is cryptographically encrypted and cannot be accessed without identity verification. However, some decrypted cache data may remain on your device — for example, files you previously previewed or played. To address this, the Vault provides a Lock and Clear Device Data feature, which lets you proactively remove local data when locking. It offers three options:

  • Clear File Cache: Removes all decrypted file data cached on your device from the Vault. Note that playback or viewing may be slower the next time as a result.
  • Clear File Metadata: Removes Vault file names and directory structure stored on your device. The Vault will need to re-sync data on your next entry.
  • Delete All Downloaded Files: Deletes all tasks and files that are being downloaded or have been downloaded to your device from the Vault. Use with caution.

If you choose not to clear, some cached content may remain on your device after locking. For high-security scenarios, we recommend using the Clear and Lock feature.
